The questions are available in two forms:
- PDF file, convenient for printing
- Direct link to the lesson as a web page (for example, Lesson1 of Term 1). At the bottom of each page there is a box where you can type in and then post a comment.
Plan A
The purpose of this approach is to provide structure to help ensure that everyone in the study group is on the same page when we begin study of the next main book (at this point planned to be The Mediums Book.)
If you did not attend the class meeting for that lesson
Read the chapter(s) in The Spirits Book (SB) and answer for yourself each question. Write down your answer to at least two questions and enter them as a comment.
If you did attend the class meeting for that lesson
Review the chapter(s) in SB and your own notes that you prepared for that lesson. Optional: Share one or more of your answers (which might be somewhat different now!) by means of a comment.
Optional Discussion
Apart from submitting answers, we encourage you to discuss any issue raised by the lesson. Again do this by posting a comment. You may also comment on another student’s comment — and such comments can be nested five deep!
Plan B
On your own answer each question, but you are not obliged to post any of your answers. Rather, post comments to discuss issues raised for you by the reading in the lesson, as in the Optional Discussion component of Plan A. The success rests in your hands to participate!!
Feedback to Preliminary Version of These Guidelines
These guidelines are not cast in stone! This whole approach is an experiment, brought about by our response to the coronavirus, and we want them to support your learning of Spiritism in a manner that will foster communication among us during a time of social distancing. We can begin web discussion by providing feedback to this page. Accordingly, comments are enabled.
Please tell us what you think! In particular, do you prefer Plan A or Plan B? Also, given all that is happening in the world and in your lives at this point, do you think the August 23 date is realistic for everyone to have completed a thorough study/review of The Spirits Book so that we are all prepared for serious study of The Mediums Book?
